Classical Pilates
Classical Pilates is about teaching the same exercises, in the same order, on as similar as possible equipment that Mr. Joseph Pilates had. Classical Pilates is more than hundred years old but works just perfect even today. This method draws inspiration from different disciplines like yoga, acrobatics and martial arts. Classical Pilates exercises were meant to be done on the mat but since the mat work is hard, Joseph Pilates invented different apparatus to help the body get stronger using springs and other accessories. The Universal Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chairs, Arm Chair, Ped-o-Pul, Barrels were born. Classical Pilates exercises have a set order, a systematic way to work through the whole body and most importantly the main focus is the body in front rather than what exercise comes next. Classical Pilates workout is like one continuous dance, going from one movement to the next and the simple design of the method and its equipment aids in that. Of course Classical Pilates can be used for rehabilitation and therapeutic purposes, but that is more of an exception than a rule. Classical Pilates at the end of the day is a full body workout. Being a part of such a magnificent institution that needs to be upheld with the utmost purity is, in my opinion, a privilege. Mr. Joseph Pilates, in my opinion, had a very specific motive and goal when he established everything. His method is more and more helpful the more we adhere to and share it.
Joseph Pilates
Joseph Pilates developed the Pilates method to address his own physical illnesses and deficiencies. Pilates, who suffered from a variety of diseases as a child, developed an early interest in health. He spent his final years developing and improving his system, which he subsequently named Contrology, which emphasizes holistic movement and general wellness. He claimed that by using his system, people might attain perfect mental control over their bodies. Joseph Pilates' principles are expressed in his book Return to Life.
Principles of Classical Pilates
Classical Pilates follows only two principles:
MOVE
Moving and moving (flowing movement) can help one recall the exercises and focus on completing them in a safe and effective manner (control), using the stomach (centering), and maintaining the correct form (accuracy) without forgetting to breathe.
OPPOSITION
Opposition is a major Contrology method technique that uses the two-way stretch to reach deep abdominal muscles and connect the upper and lower bodies
